Along with its exhaustive menu, Cubby’s BBQ offers parties of 5 to 25 people a catering menu that makes parties easy, including a set of staples, such as baby back ribs and half chickens. Cubby’s BBQ even offers parties of more than 25 a chance to arrange their special events with ease.
What brings people back to Cubby’s BBQ is the wholesome food, featuring only fresh ingredients. Cubby’s BBQ’s house specialties include its famous baby back ribs, the Rib and Chicken Combo with a half chicken, and the Hackensack Steak with cheddar cheese and sautéed onions. Cubby’s BBQ holds an even greater role internationally, given its close proximity to the United Nations in New York City. In his book Eating with the Enemy: How I Waged Peace with North Korea from my BBQ Shack in Hackensack, owner Bobby Egan established a rapport with the North Korean government after successfully helping a Vietnamese official defect to the United States while serving as a POW/MIA activist. Becoming an unofficial point of contact and ambassador for the North Koreans for many years, Bobby Egan established back-channel negotiations between the federal and North Korean officials, often utilizing Cubby’s BBQ as the venue. Bobby Egan’s efforts earned recognition from Vanity Fair, National Public Radio, and The New Yorker. Currently, alongside running Cubby’s BBQ, Bobby Egan serves as President of the USA-DPRK Trade Council.
